    Google Voice and Cell Phones

A colleague on Twitter posted this link.  If you have not used Google Voice with your students, you and they are missing out big.  So, dip your bog toe in, and give it a try.  I think you will really like it.

Second, here is some background information re: Google Voice, from another colleague with whom I tweet.

Third, here is a good article re: using cell phones and Google Voice in the foreign language classroom.

Last, here is an EduCause article re: a Spanish teacher's experience using cell phones and Google Voice.

I myself am an emergent user of Google Voice in my Spanish classes.  Prior to this, I used a digital voice recorder.  I like Google Voice much better.  Not only do the students phone in to an actual number, as if they are really leaving a message, but a ready-made log of the recordings is available to me.  This makes assessment much easier than using my personal or school voicemail.  I can also store the recordings for future activities.
