Learning Styles and Foreign Language Learning

"Knowing and adjusting your studying accordingly could pay off for learning Spanish — and other subjects as well." About.com: Spanish Language

I found this article on learning styles and foreign language learning interesting.

What's even more interesting is that the article approaches learning styles from the standpoint of the learner, and not the teacher. In other words, metacognition: Learning how to learn.

This is not to suggest that teachers should not create lessons which respond to the learning styles and learning needs of the students.  To the contrary: I believe that teachers should and must integrate the Multiple Intelligences (MI) and strategies for students with special needs.  Doing both makes for teaching that is lively, varied and accessible.

What I am reinforcing is the importance of students learning how they learn best, in order to get the most out of their foreign language learning experience.
